GPI Holding has been contracted to build a live video streaming project for one of our customers. We had experience with developing online video and audio streaming projects in the past, so we committed to creating this live video streaming project for our existing customer.

The project consists of creating a cross-platform live video streaming project similar to Meerkat and Periscope. This which means that users should be able to stream live using their PC, Mac, laptop, while other users should be able to watch the live streaming on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices, and vice versa.

The different live video streaming parameters that each web browser supports, plus the mobile browser requirements which are even more restrictive, make this project both interesting and challenging at the same time. We find this as a great opportunity to use our experience, skills and creativity to create a great feature, that is in high demand nowadays.

When working on this feature, we had to choose between the existing live streaming technologies, such as Wowza, Red 5, WebRTC, Adobe Media Server, and others. After a decent amount of planning and discussions between our web, back end, and mobile developers, we decided about the technologies that we are going to use.

With this project, we will bring our contribution to making the world faster, more dynamic, and smaller. We will get people closer to each other no matter how far they are from each other. People from all over the world will be able to live stream from one continent to another and share important moments of their life with family and friends in seconds.
